Family Portrait Session | Pungo | Virginia Beach, VA

Last month, I enjoyed a drive down to Virginia Beach to see my family, and to also take pictures for my aunt, Jen and her family. She said she wanted a family session with her grandparents. So, I packed my son up, and we went.

When we got there, I of course, spent time with my mom, but, when I met with Jen, she showed me the outfits, and we got the kids ready. Afterwards, we went to her mom's land and I hadn't been there in years, so the farm looked amazing. I forgot how peaceful Pungo was, and for a moment, I was REALLY homesick.

The day was hot and so muggy. And the sun was harsh. But, that didn't stop us. Instead, we battled the heat, and found some shade. I am so glad we did too! These pictures are some of my favorites!

We started by getting some warm up pictures so everyone could get comfortable, then we took pictures of the kids and each individual family. Then, we did the entire group, and broke off into the specific requests that each member had made. The entire shoot lasted about an hour and a half, and we were even able to include their chickens - which, I might add, was pretty awesome.

Jen told me that for her family session, she wanted to keep them natural, relaxed, and fun. So, we did. And she loves them!

These images are so important because Jen and the family didn't have portraits of everyone together, and for them, that was something they wanted changed, pronto.

I am thankful that they asked me to do their pictures. We had a great time, and everyone enjoyed themselves, even if the heat was so intense that day.

I love driving down to Virginia Beach, but what I love more, is driving down to Virginia Beach to capture special moments for the people I get to know and care about.

Even though I am presenting my family in this session, it really only reaffirms the why in what I do - Because everyone deserves to have their sentimental treasures preserved. Family portrait sessions are so important, and for Jen, their family's memories are now captured for display in their homes.

Thanks Jen for asking me. I can't wait to see you soon!
