I met Ana and Jonathan through a friend and fellow photographer when Shawna called me to refer them due to being unable to book them. I was ecstatic and immediately dialed their number as soon as we got off the phone. The moment I called them, I knew they were going to be amazing to work with. I was so right.
We stayed on the phone for an hour just talking and laughing about planning and discussing the intimate details of their day. When they told me the wedding would be in Lynchburg, Virginia, at the Bella Rose Plantation, I immediately began planning on how to capture their day. She told me the girls would be getting ready in a cabin on the original foundation, and the guys would be getting ready in a separate building. She also told me that all of their friends and family were driving from out of town to enjoy their wedding weekend.
What we did not plan on, was having an unexpected visitor for the weekend: Hurricane Matthew. Yes, they got married in the middle of a hurricane! Amidst some changes, their day was nothing short of amazing. Ana had the details planned perfectly.
I began the day capturing the details of the ceremony and reception while the girls began to get ready. I bounced back and forth between them, and the main house. After they were mostly ready, I went to meet the guys and spent a few moments with them. When the ceremony began, it was filled with intimate moments and lighthearted laughter, followed by immense amounts of joy.
During the reception, the first dance was tear-jerking and sweet. The Mother-Son dance was just as beautiful to capture. It was easy to capture the raw beauty of the love this couple share between themselves, their family and friends.
I loved being involved in their day, and meeting their wonderful friends and family was such a treat. Capturing their moments, was so importantly easy, that holding onto these images has been hard. Now, I can share them excitedly, and anxiously with you. Please enjoy!
